Measure 3D

Measure 3D would simplify Longmont City Council elections by adjusting council election cycles so that in one election, all ward councilmembers are elected, and in the next, all at-large councilmembers are elected. This way, everyone in Longmont would vote in the same kind of Council election at the same time.

It would also allow for Longmont’s three at-large councilmembers to be elected on the same ranked ballot using a multi-winner RCV. Multi-winner RCV is a preferred voting method for democracy and voting rights experts because of its ability to produce reliably representative governing bodies, maximize the electoral strength of voters of color, and prevent gerrymandering.
